Introduction:
I am a licensed Speech Pathologist in the UAE and a licensed Speech Pathologist & Audiologist in South Africa. My experience extends between South Africa and the UAE. I use child-centred and evidence-based speech and language strategies in my practice.
Therapeutic Approach:
My therapeutic approach includes using visually mediated support to expand and enhance language expression and understanding, using augmentative and alternative communication for children who have complex communication needs, strategies for oral motor-to-speech development, and inclusive education practices. My practise includes using multimodal communication, such as verbal language, conventional gestures, Makaton, Boardmaker, written language, and picture-based symbols to scaffold speech and language development. I use a strength’s based and transdisciplinary approach to meet each child’s speech, language and developmental needs while empowering parents through guidance and training. I specialize in working with children with autism spectrum disorder and complex communication needs, school-based learning difficulties. I believe that teachers, parents and caregivers are an integral part of the team to foster an inclusive environment in which children can develop optimally.
Client Experience:
I am an empathic and culturally sensitive speech and language therapist who has a supportive and collaborative approach. I develop structured therapeutic plans to develop speech, language, and social-communication skills. I use therapeutic strategies which involve technology and innovative speech, language and communication applications.
